Salem, MA
Fast Times. Big Money.
Mark your calendars! Friday night racing is back. With one of the largest cash prizes for a road mile in New England, we hope you can join us to spectate as some of the fastest runners from near and far blaze through Salem! After the elite race, there's an opportunity for all-comers to run the mile course, no matter how fast you run. All runners welcome!

About the Race
We created The Mayor’s Mile race to highlight the new Mayor Anthony V. Salvo Multi-Use Path that runs along Canal St. in Salem, MA. This section of path is approximately 1.2 miles long, uninterrupted by public streets. With no crossings and no traffic, this race can be entirely self-contained with minimal disruption to life in Salem. Let’s be real though: we also created this race because we love watching high-level sporting events and we wanted to bring one to Salem.
Unlike any other race in the area, we have big prizes: $1000 each to the top male and top female in the elite category. This event is made to be spectated by sports fans, as much as run by athletes. Look for big names and fast times. After the elite race, run the course yourself and grab a time by registering in the open category! Or just come and spectate both races: Cheer on the pros and then your friends and family!
As a tribute to the race/path’s namesake, we will invite the Mayor to decide each year which charity to donate a portion of proceeds to, regardless of who is Mayor from year to year. We feel that activating this free public space will help people understand how valuable public parks and paths can be, and will ultimately result in more funding for parks and recreation, and more projects like this.
